More times then not the response that we hear is
"I thought I was the only one with this...".
The important thing that has been accomplished is letting people know that they are not alone. This disease is truely not as rare as we initially thought it to be. From the United States to England to as far as Austrailia. This disease definately has its fingers stretched out.
As time has passed and the site growing as it has, it was appearent that the cost to maintain it is growing as well. We try to communicate personally on the phone with the people that are found. At this time, we cannot afford to contact the individuals outside of the US as the cost is too great.
Initially the site was funded by sponsored advertising like "Ads by Google" and "Youtube" videos.
When she is healthy, Markita also provides poetry reading at local churches for donations.
However, the revenue produced by these means has been minimal.
We have been receiving emails from readers wanted to donate to assist the site but we never had a means of accepting such donations... Until now.
